A Guide To Tell What Year & Season Your Stone Island Clothing Is From

As the second-hand clothing market becomes evermore popular, item specifics are often missing from private seller descriptions. Particularly for a renowned brand like Stone Island, the age of a jacket can affect the price. Some items may hold higher value when new in season, whereas some items that fall into the 'vintage' category may be worth more than they retailed for many years ago.

Stone Island pieces each have an individual 'ART Number', which is a code that details specific qualities about the item. These qualities include the year of release, the season of release (either Spring/Summer or Autumn/Winter), the brand (relevant for when CP Company used ART Numbers and for collaborations), the type of garment (e.g. jacket, jumper, trousers), the materials and the colour.  Each item therefore has a unique ART Number, which can be found on the wash tag inside the piece and the retail swing tag.

In this guide, we will focus on the first two numbers of the ART Number, as these are the key to telling which year and season the piece is from.
